Ellen Umhoefer MSc (HONS) MBACP  is the founder of  Honey Counselling a private practice based in Upminster.  She was previously in joint partnership with Honey and Ryan for four years.

Before this she spent an extensive period at a charity for counselling youths in Grays Essex dealing with anxiety disorders, depression, Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD), Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) and other emotional related issues. She has attended numerous training programmes such as Safeguarding Children; Grief Encounter and Working with Bereaved children; Neglect Awareness; and Mentoring Training and her experience has demonstrated the powerful effects intervention can have on people’s lives, for the better.

She gained a Bachelor of Science Degree where she studied Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) for 3 years at Havering College.

Previously she trained to Level 2, Certificate for Counselling skills and Person Centred Counselling and Counselling Practice.

Having worked extensively with couples and individual clients in her private practice she also works as a counsellor for primary school children in Engayne School, Cranham, Essex and Mead School, Harold Hill, Essex.  Here she helps children express their feelings through play and interactive games. Using CBT for Children she encourages them to gain a better understand of their emotions within the environment they live.

Her vision is to break down the fear of counselling and find ways of making counselling and psychotherapy much more accessible and less stigmatised. She aims to help people help themselves guiding them to a better life, showing them that many emotional issues can be overcome.

She looks forward to welcoming you to Honey Counselling where in a safe and confidential setting intervention can begin,
it’s time for you…
